SPORT

We employ 2 part-time sports teachers (Coach Erin and Coach 'Dip') and the children enjoy physical education classes once a week and more formal coaching once per week in team sports (netball, cricket and soccer). Vista Nova High School, only a few hundred meters away, very kindly allow us to use their field for this sports coaching. Our soccer and netball players have started to play in some match fixtures against other school teams in the area.

Every child participates in weekly PE and sports classes with the aim that they each grow their enjoyment of exercise and games, push themselves to achieve personal goals, and develop their ability to be excellent team players, as well as to both win and lose well!

Extra-mural SportsHub is also available at an additional charge and Pinelands also boasts a good variety of different providers for extra sports coaching (eg soccer, tennis, swimming, dance, indoor hockey).  In addition, Cannon's Creek Independent School kindly allow some of our children to join their team sport coaching, with match opportunities (for a small fee). Feel free to contact the school for more information about these opportunities.

MUSIC & ART

Music and art are highly valued elements of the curriculum at Grace Primary. In addition to weekly lessons which foster art and music appreciation, the children receive lessons in practical art, basic music theory and singing from specialised teachers.

Recorder, piano, violin and guitar lessons are also available in school time at an additional charge.

OUTINGS

The children go on educational outings twice per term. We are very grateful to parents who make these outings possible by offering lifts and joining us as helpers. These outings include Boulders Beach, Kirstenbosch, Butterfly World, Groot Constantia, a visit to the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra at the City Hall, Rosen Castle, Aquarium, Intaka Island, Irma Stern Museum, Norval Foundation, Science Museum, Planetarium, Centre for Conservation and Education, Heart of Cape Town Museum, Isiziko Natural History Museum, The Slave Lodge & Company Gardens, local youth theatre, Woodstock Street Art and many others!

HANDICRAFTS

Each term there is day dedicated to a different handicraft. These have included ceramics, sewing, woodwork, mosaics, weaving, knitting and French knitting. There is sometimes a small additional fee charged for these activities when specialised practitioners and materials are used.

CLUBS

We currently offer, at no extra charge, choir, drama, soccer, netball, athletics, science club, chess, needlework, and general knowledge club as extra-mural activities. These are subject to change annually.

Karate, Sports Hub, and Robotics & Coding are also available with a termly fee paid directly to the service providers.
